I’m back and with a new approach
I’ve been away from the blog for a while, but I’m back. Once again, life threw a real curveball at me. I was laid-off in May, so my focus took me away from any fantasy football writing. But all is well in the New Year, so now that I am settled in at a great new job, my thoughts return to my poor neglected blog.
But with my time away, I have seen an ever growing number of voices on the web talking football and fantasy football. I ask myself: where do I fit in with the cacophony of self-described experts and writers? Honestly, I nearly thought about hanging it all up. My new job is another writing intensive gig, so why write in my spare time when I’d probably be obscure and little read.
Then it hit me: there’s really only one writer I know of (@fflibrarian) who does any sort of aggregation of all that content. I also thought, there are a lot of popular blogs in other fields (daring fireball.net, brooksreview.net, etc.) that link to great1 content and add their brief comments. People find it to be very useful, and with all that content out there, a lifeline to finding the really good stuff.
To my knowledge, no one does this to any great extent in fantasy football beyond those tweeters who retweet posts.
Lightbulb dings on
So I’ve decide to fill that space. When I come across some great new content or news item, I’ll link it and comment. As occasion arises, I’ll write longer articles, but these will be special cases. I think this new approach will keep me more active in the blogosphere, as trying to write long pieces all the time PLUS write for my day job is too much, and blogging of course suffers as a result.
So I’m back fantasy football world, and I hope to be better than ever. Spread the word!
